Introducing Downy Hug!

Schnapps' latest hat!  I let Paul name it this time!  This is knit using a fairly heavy 4-weight yarn and size 10 needles, but other yarn weights would work just as well.

Schnapps used Lion Brand Organic Cotton and it was so very soft and fluffy feeling!  Just one skein was needed for the blue cap.  The maroon cap was knit using Sublime luxurious woolly merino and again, just one ball was needed.  It too is super soft!

More and more people are joining us on Facebook and here and I just wanted to let everyone know that I accept hats of all colors, styles and sizes.  There is a head for every hat!  The only real requirements are that the hats be handmade and labeled in some way if they contain wool.  That is so I can tag them as containing wool for those with animal fiber allergies.  If you are sending hats in, please include your name and email address or mailing address if you would rather so I can let you know when the hats get here.  All the hats that come in are photographed and put on our Facebook page for everyone to enjoy.  If you have any questions at all, feel free to email me at robin@delawareheadhuggers.org

If you're not a fan of Delaware Head Huggers yet, stop by and "Like" our Facebook page.  Help us name the patterns and see all the beautiful hats that are donated.  Stop by Kozy Kovers for Kids Facebook page too!  We welcome everyone to join us.  Stop by and say hello.  You can always reach Schnapps or me at robin@delawareheadhuggers.org too.

"I think this color looks good on me!"

The pattern is worked over 2 stitches.  To keep the crown decrease the same adjust in multiples of 10.

To knit this using 5-weight yarn, use size 10.5 needles and cast on 80 stitches.

To knit this using worsted weight yarn, use size 8 needles and cast on 100 stitches.

To make it child size, use worsted yarn, size 8 needles and cast on 60 stitches.  Adjust in increments of 10 stitches for individual sizes.

To knit this using sport weight yarn, use size 5 needles and cast on 120 stitches.

If using a different weight, you might have to add more rows to the crown decrease.

Feel free to use dpns if you prefer!

All are welcome to join us in some way!
If you know anyone who needs chemo caps, please don't hesitate to contact me and I will send some out to anywhere in the USA.
