This hat is my second for this week, meeting my goal for week 18! So happy I've been able to meet that goal each and every week so far. Hopefully that will continue.
I happen to like the word "bamboozled". It just makes me smile. So, when I stumbled across the bamboo stitch, I knew a hat would have to be designed, just so I could call it Bamboozled!!
I made this with a superwash merino wool blend that I just happened to have, but I imagine it would look great in any fiber at all! This is a super simple pattern that is only 2 rows, so it's easy to memorize too!

Bamboozled: A Hat
Worsted
weight yarn – between 100 and 200 yards
Size
8 circular needles
Abbreviations:
Yo
– yarn over
K2tog – knit 2 stitches together
Cast on 92 stitches
Work the brim:
Row
1: Knit every stitch
Row
2: Purl every stitch
Repeat
Rows 1 & 2 two more times
Work body of hat:
Row
1: *yo, K2, pass yo over the 2
knit stitches*;
repeat from * to * across row
Row
2: knit all stitches
Repeat
Rows 1 & 2 until the hat measures about 7 inches in length
Work crown:
Row 1: *yo, K2, pass yo over the 2 knit
stitches*;
repeat from * to * across row
Row
2: K2tog, *K7, K2tog *;
repeat
from * to * to last 8 stitches, K6, K2tog
Row
3: *yo, K2, pass yo over the 2
knit stitches*;
repeat from * to * across row
Row
4: *K6, K2tog*; repeat across row
Row
5: *yo, K2, pass yo over the 2

having problem with second row of crown ending up with nine stitches instead of eight anyone know why

ReplyDeleteThis is how to do this on straight needles!! I had to figure it out because I couldn't find my circulars. Basically, in the body, every second row you purl instead of knit.

ReplyDeleteI too am having a problem with the end of Row 2 in the crown. There is 1 stitch left over at the end. It goes from K7, K2tog, to the last 8 stitches.
ReplyDeleteIt is using 9 stitches, for each K7, K2tog in the row, then switches to K6, K2tog. . That leaves 1 more stitch.
Any help would be appreciated.
Did you do the first K2tog that is listed?
