Introducing Laugh: Hat 2 in a Trilogy!

This hat is the second in the Live, Laugh, Love Trilogy based on the one pattern that we started with.  Again, thank you Elissa for naming them.  The three of these hats will work well as Spring hats made with lighter weight yarn or as warmer caps made with 2 strands of yarn or a heavier weight fiber.  Experiment with different yarns and enjoy!

The model was knit using just 2 skeins of Louisa Harding's Grace Silk & Wool.  This yarn has such a beautiful texture and sheen to it I thought it was perfect for this pattern.  I used 2 strands held together as one and size 10 needles.  I have included instructions for other yarn weights also, so you can use whatever you have in your stash.

Laugh!
Live!  This pattern is available here.

I hope you like all the hats in this trilogy.  And I hope that you will find some time to make a couple for your local cancer center.  I have heard from so many people recently telling me how important these caps are to them.  So, please, join us in making a difference one hat at a time!  It means more than you would think it would.

The pattern is worked over 8 stitches.

To knit this using 6-weight yarn, use size 13 needles and cast on 48 stitches.  Begin the crown decrease at 6 inches.

To knit this using 5-weight yarn, use size 10.5 needles and cast on 72 stitches.  Work pattern as written

To knit this using one strand of worsted weight yarn, use size 8 needles and cast on 96 stitches.  Begin the crown decrease at 7.5 inches.

To make it child size, use worsted yarn, size 7 needles and cast on 64 stitches.  Adjust in increments of 8 stitches for individual sizes.  Begin crown decreases between 6.5 and 7 inches, depending on desired length of finished hat.

To knit this using sport weight yarn, use size 5 needles and cast on 128 stitches. Begin crown decrease at 7.5 to 8 inches.

If using a different weight, you might have to add more rows to the crown decrease.

Remember, all are welcome to join us in some way - we love to see new people and are grateful when more people hear about us.  So, spread the word!  And, as always, if you or anyone you know is in need of chemo caps, please feel free to contact me directly at robin@delawareheadhuggers.org and I will be happy to ship some out.  If there is a chemo center that is near and dear to your heart and you think they could use some hats, let me know and I will ship a box off to them.  This is what we do!!
