I'm excited to announce a new project for Delaware Head Huggers. We are collecting hats for Kidshealth.org which is part of the A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington Delaware. They have produced a video that helps pre-school age children understand what to expect from their cancer treatment. We are hoping to have a few hundred hats in varying sizes for a launch party at the end of February. We WILL be collecting Finn Hats after that date. This is an ongoing project!
The pattern can be found as a PDF on the Delaware Head Huggers website: just click on the tab that says Finn's Hat Download and it will open a tab to download the pattern. For those who don't want to download the PDF, the pattern is typed out on the website in the tab that says Finn's Hat Pattern. There are instructions for knitting in the round, knitting flat, loom knitting and 2 crochet patterns! EVERYONE can help!
I have also put the pattern page on Scribd.com.
If you're not a fan of Delaware Head Huggers yet, stop by and "Like" our Facebook page. Stop by Kozy Kovers for Kids Facebook page too! We welcome everyone to join us. Stop by and say hello. You can always reach Schnapps or me at robin@delawareheadhuggers.org too.

An excerpt of the video can be found here
We're asking everyone who can to knit a hat (or 2 or 3 or as many as possible!) that matches Finn's hat in the video. These hats will be given to the children, their siblings, parents, friends, classmates and anyone who wants to show some support for someone undergoing cancer treatment. Please consider making some for us.
We want these hats to look as
similar to Finn’s as possible, so please keep to the same colors and use the
attached patterns only. We have
included patterns for knitting in the round, flat knitting and loom knitting. The pattern is simple enough for novice
knitters. There is also a crochet pattern!
You can watch an excerpt of the
video here: http://youtu.be/gmPzgtSC6i0
All hats should be sent to
Delaware Head Huggers. A list of
drop off sites throughout the state of Delaware can be found here: http://www.delawareheadhuggers.org/page8.php
Hats can also be mailed directly
to Delaware Head Huggers, 202 Acorn Forest Drive, Felton, DE 19943. Please include your name, address and
email address so we can let you know that your hats arrived safely!
We are collecting hats of all
sizes, since these will be given to siblings and adult family members and
friends as well as to the young children starting treatment.
Please consider helping us make
the difficult journey of cancer treatment a little less scary for these little
ones.
Please feel free to send any questions to: robin@delawareheadhuggers.org
Children are sick and scared? That worries Schnapps! He hopes you will help! |
The hat is basically a denim
blue color with 2 green stripes.
The greens are more of an aqua and sea foam than a Kelly green. I’ve checked some brands and have some
options here. Any yarn in
this color combination is acceptable, but please choose SOFT feeling yarn!
