Introducing Entwined With Hope!

Schnapps was quick to knit the second hat for the week!  We LOVE super bulky yarn and the super fast way it works up.  This latest hat was knit using one of my favorite yarns, Lion Brand Hometown USA, but you can use any weight yarn for this pattern.

This is a super simple pattern that has great texture.  It will look very different, but just as nice, knit in worsted  or sport weight yarn. The pattern is easily adjusted for various sizes as well.

Our hat Karmic Kuddles, also knit with Hometown USA is now on the Lion Brand website too!  You can find it here

He tried to finish it last night, but sleep won out!

He was up bright and early this morning and got straight to work.

Once it was finished, Schnapps kept one paw on it while taking another nap!

Introducing Twists & Twirls!

Here's another "Football Game" hat that Schnapps and I made on Sunday during the games.  Thanks Barb for the name!  It's a very quick knit and it's toasty warm.  A bit geometric in design, it looks great with super bulky or 6-weight yarn.  You could double up worsted weight yarn too.

It's a multiple of 10 pattern, so adjust accordingly!  The pattern will work if you double the stitches and use size 8 needles with worsted weight yarn, but the look will be much different.

I used Lion Brand Hometown USA for this.  I love that yarn...........it knits up so nicely and it's so warm!  It's Schnapps approved!

The pattern can be found as a PDF on Scribd.com .

Introducing Waterfalls of Hope!

It's only Tuesday and I've already finished 2 hats for this week.  Waterfalls of Hope is a brand new pattern, right off Schnapps' needles!

The first was knit using the Love Links pattern and Michael's Charisma yarn. The pattern can be found on Ravelry, in my Craftsy store and in the e-book MORE Chemo Caps to Share.  Check out the model too!  Barb from Illinois sent this to me so I no longer have to wait for someone else to be home to get a photo of a hat!  Thank you Barb!!

Schnapps is afraid of the head.................so we are keeping it up on the bookcase for him!

Waterfalls of Hope was knit using Lion Brand Tweed Stripes, which is a very soft yarn and the colors just seemed to work for this pattern.  I think though that it will work in any colorway and even in solid colors too.  It's a simple pattern but the texture adds a little extra to the hat.  Schnapps almost lost his yarn in the wind, but he managed to hold onto it and finish up the hat this morning.

The pattern can be found as a PDF on Scribd.com .
Join our Facebook page to see items as soon as they come off my needles and to help name them!  You'll also see just where all our hats are being sent.  More boxes shipped out today!

Introducing Under Hope's Cover Chemo Cap!

Once again, I've kept to my goal of at least 2 hats a week.  Thank you Penny for the name!

This week, 10 boxes were shipped out!  Each box had between 70 and 100 hats in it and they are being sent all over to places that need them.  I announce all shipments on our  Facebook page.  Stop by and join us if you like. I have a few more to go out as well, but they wouldn't fit in the car!  I also recently sent boxes to some individuals in need of warm head wear as well.  I had some lovely notes and messages from people this week who have received hats and love them.  I have received hats this week from KY, WA, PA, FL, DE and other places too.  The generosity and talents of so many people are being put to wonderful use.

I also made a donation to The National Breast Cancer Society on behalf of Delaware Head Huggers, donating $25, which was 25% of my pattern sales for the week of 10/1 - 10/8.  Thank you everyone who purchased patterns and helped.  Remember that ANY time you buy one of my patterns, the full cost goes right back to Delaware Head Huggers to cover shipping and supply costs.

Thank goodness that all this balances out the people such as the woman who wrote accusing me of being a scam.  Please, if you contact me for any reason, be polite.  I blocked her and will do so to all people who are rude.  Thousands of you know from personal experience that I respond to every email and I will always answer questions if I can.

This week, my first hat was sort of a draft for the second one.  Even though the pattern is revised, I still think this is a lovely cap that will keep someone nice and warm.

Suggestions were made to add a handle to the umbrella...........

This week was I Love Yarn Day too, so Schnapps had to take time out from knitting to celebrate!

Then, Schnapps worked hard to revise the pattern and added a handle.

The pattern is a simple one.  I used Jiffy 5-weight yarn and size 10.5 needles.  The pattern itself is worked over 17 stitches.  I repeated the umbrella twice and left 2 plain panels in between.  When writing the pattern, I left the k17 at the start of each row.  Should you want to knit the pattern in every panel, just delete the k17 and work the rest of the pattern.  If you want to use worsted weight yarn, cast on 102 stitches and use size 7 needles.  If you want to adapt it any more, work in increments of 17 stitches if you want the pattern in every panel or 34 stitches if you want to alternate as I did.

The pattern can be found as a PDF on Scribd.com.

Join our Facebook page to see items as soon as they come off my needles and to help name them!

The following designs are all included:

Introducing Room for Hope: An Adjustable Slouchy Hat

I've been asked to come up with a slouchy hat pattern, so I put Schnapps to work and he came up with this.  Barb - this one's for you!  Sue, thank you for the name!!!

Before I say anything else about the hat, I'd just like to thank everyone who has supported me in getting Delaware Head Huggers up and going.  We are definitely making a difference and I am in awe at the sheer number of wonderful people out there.  I've come to realize that as more and more people hear about us, there will always be those selfish few who try to bring negativity into this, but we don't care about them, because the more who hear about us, the more people we can help!  I'm so lucky to have so very many people who bring happiness, joy and generosity to this project.  And I am honored to have met so many amazingly brave and strong people who are fighting cancer and taking care of loved ones who are fighting.  Please keep contacting me - I will send hats, hugs, hope and love to you all!  Keep me posted on your progress and remember, you don't have to knit, crochet or sew to join us on Facebook and follow along.  You only have to be kind and loving.

I hope that those of you who like slouchy hats like this one.  Those of you who would prefer a closer fitting cap can just adjust the pattern as written below and make it smaller.  I used Vanna's Colors for the model and I used a little more than 1.5 skeins.

The pattern may also be found on Scribd.com as a PDF .
Stop by our Facebook page to see items as soon as they come off my needles and to help name them!
Schnapps worked very hard on this one!

Introducing Rings of Love: A Cap Simple Enough for Beginners!

Lately I have had several requests for very simple hats for new knitters.  So, I decided that to put this together for everyone.  Certainly more experienced knitters can still knit this pattern.......it's great for when you need a quick project, but those of you who are new to knitting should be able to finish this in almost no time!  And the pattern is very forgiving........if you skip a row or add an extra one, oh well, the ridges won't be evenly spaced, but it will still be cute.

Thank you Sonia for the name!

This pattern is free, but please remember that 10% of the cost of ALL my pattern sales on Craftsy and on Ravelry between 10/1 and 10/8 will be donated to breast cancer research.  This is a great way to get some new patterns and to make a difference.  The other 90% of the pattern price goes directly into shipping and supplies for Delaware Head Huggers and Kozy Kovers for Kids, so you are doing good in more than one way just by purchasing a pattern!

Schnapps says THANK YOU to all!

The model was knit with Lion Brand's Vanna's Colors - just one skein.  I have included directions for various sizes as well as various yarn weights here too.

The pattern may also be found on Scribd.com as a PDF .

Warm Hands - Warmer Hearts Scarf

Today is October 1, 2012 and it's the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I honor of my aunt and all our other loved ones lost to breast cancer, this week (from October 1 through October 8, 2012) I will be donating 10% of the proceeds of patterns sold to the National Breast Cancer Society.  The other 90% of the price will go directly to supporting and maintaining Delaware Head Huggers. In other words, 100% of what you spend will be going to help patients in some way.

This is a new pattern that will be posted on Craftsy as well as on Ravelry for all to purchase for $2.50.  Instructions for making this pattern wide enough to be a shawl are included as well as working it with worsted weight and bulky yarns.

But, ALL pattern sales will be included in this donation: my individual patterns and my e-books as well.  It's a way to help make a difference and get some new patterns at the same time.  If this is successful, I will be doing this every so often for other Cancer Societies as well.  It is a way that Schnapps and I think we can help make a bit of a difference!

Whether you are purchasing any patterns or not, please feel free to stop by our Facebook page to see items as soon as they come off my needles and to help name them!

It's a cozy scarf with nice deep pockets to keep your hands warm or to carry dog cookies........can you tell who's idea that was??  It can be knit in any color - including pink - to suit anyone!

Remember, all are welcome to join us in some way - we love to see new people and are grateful when more people hear about us.  So, spread the word!  And, as always, if you or anyone you know is in need of chemo caps, please feel free to contact me directly at robin@delawareheadhuggers.org and I will be happy to ship some out.  If there is a chemo center that is near and dear to your heart and you think they could use some hats, let me know and I will ship a box off to them.  This is what we do!!
