Schnapps-isms: Wise Words & Knitting Patterns

Schnapps was a very wise, kind and talented boy.  His last 5 hat patterns have been put into a book that includes several pages of photos and 'Schnapps-isms'.  He taught us so much in the short time he was here and we will always strive to match his happiness, bravery, generosity and creativity.

No one could ever replace Schnapps and he will ALWAYS be our mascot and design inspiration.  He will live on in the hearts of all of us and I've been told that his legacy will inspire generations to come.  We all must keep making a difference, with hugs, hope and love.

An early reviewer said:

"Robin Agar-Celli and her beloved Schnapps have brought together the essence of excellence in day to day living and lovingly designed knitted hats. The wonderful photos in this Kindle version bring back warm memories of a special canine buddy and highlight the inspirational philosophy of Robin Agar-Celli and the Delaware Head Huggers. The hat patterns are clearly written with an attractive presentation. Directions for multiple yarn weights add versatility to each pattern. This is a very nice addition to my library."

Each pattern includes instructions for all yarn weights.

The book is called "Schnapps-isms:  Wise Words and Knitting Patterns and it is available as a paperback or a Kindle e-book from Amazon.  It can be purchased here.  Other pattern books are available there as well.

Since not everyone may want to have all the photos, we have also put the e-book, with patterns only in our Ravelry store.  It can be found here.  Schnapps-isms is also available, patterns only in our Craftsy store, found here.

The patterns included are:

Legacy

A-Maze

Space Invaders

Jacks

Love Swirls

Scrimmage Stitches!

Schnapps has put together the latest Football Sunday e-book. These hats were all made to be knit in a short amount of time - you've got plenty of time to whip up a couple before Christmas!

Trying to keep up with the high demand for chemo caps means we look for cute, stylish patterns that work up quickly.   These patterns are all fairly simple, but interesting enough to keep you from getting bored.

This e-book is a compilation of 15 hat patterns designed for Delaware Head Huggers. Along with 3 never before published patterns, there are 12 patterns found on the blog, Knitting with Schnapps. Patterns vary in complexity, so there is something for everyone. All patterns include information for knitting them in super-bulky, chunky, worsted and sport weight yarn. 100% of all sales go into supporting Delaware Head Huggers and helping to pay for shipping and supply costs. Delaware Head Huggers makes, collects and donates chemo caps to people throughout the USA undergoing cancer treatment. More info can be found at www.delawareheadhuggers.org

Introducing Beach Day!

Summer is in full swing here in Delaware now.  Temperatures this week are supposed to be super hot, so Schnapps and I will be hiding inside and knitting.  He made this sun hat last week and wanted to share it with everyone.

The model was knit using 2 strands of Knit Picks CotLin yarn which we love.  It's cool, crisp and so nice to work with.  Plus it's machine washable!  You could easily work this using one strand of 3 weight yarn and smaller needles or using 5 weight yarn.........we have included instructions for those variations as well.

Adding a wire to the brim would make the brim more sturdy.  Just whip stitch it in or crochet it in for the added stability.  Since we are donating this one, we left the wire out so that it is softer for a patient who will receive it.

You could easily add a wire to the brim by whip stitching it in or crocheting it in.  This would give your brim a more sturdy feel.

Use a cotton or cotton blend yarn.

This would work well with just 1 color too.

Experiment and enjoy!

You could easily use one strand of 5-weight yarn instead of 2 strands of 3 weight yarn.

You could use one strand of 3 weight yarn and size 5 needles and cast on 200 stitches.  Follow the rest of the pattern as written, repeating the last row of the crown decrease as desired.

Introducing Ribbons & Bows!

Schnapps has been busy helping me get blankets ready for Camp Connect, a camp that reunites foster care siblings placed in separate foster home for a week of fun and bonding.  He helped make bracelets for Code Purple to have at the Firefly Music Festival this weekend.  He helped me put together a new fund raiser.  He's been very helpful in dealing with some extremely rude people who have tried to bully us in the past two weeks and he made this hat a while ago and just got around to telling me the pattern.  As always, all yarn weights are listed.  The model was knit using 3 colors of 5-weight, chunky yarn and size 10.5 circular needles.
