Introducing Vennlighet!

 Somehow we are already almost halfway through 2026.  Life is busy and hats are coming in and shipping out every week!  I've got a few patterns to share and I'm working on more.

This is Vennlighet - which is the Norwegian word for Kindness.  The model was designed and knit using KnitPicks Comfy Aran yarn, which is a favorite of mine.  I've also knit it in Mill House Super Bulky yarn and Clean Cotton worsted weight yarn by Universal.  The pattern really works with everything!  

You can easily customize this design by working it in only one color, working the brim for the entire hat instead of switching to stockinette stitch or using any variety of colors.  Think team colors or school colors or just favorite colors.  This pattern can work for everyone!

This will be a FREE PDF for everyone, so that you can help your local cancer center or DEHH.

Introducing Ciepło!

This latest hat is named Ciepło, which means warmth in Polish.  It's a super simple, quick knit that will work equally well for men and women.  Make it in any color you like and of course, you can use whatever is in your stash because directions are included for all yarn weights.

Sadly, there is still a huge need for chemo caps! Please consider making some for your local cancer center or sending some to DEHH so I can get them to those who need them.  Hats are still being shipped out on a regular basis and will be throughout the Summer.  Air conditioning means that many cancer warriors are cold even in the hot weather, so we don't slow down shipments.

Cotton, bamboo and cotton blend yarns are great for this time of year too.  This version of this pattern was knit using KnitPicks Comfy Bulky, a super soft cotton blend that works up nicely.

Introducing Cluthar!

 2025 is underway and the need for chemo caps is huge!  I've got hospitals and cancer centers on a waiting list so I am knitting as fast as I can and I hope you are too!

We were recently featured in the Delaware News Journal - it's a quick read but gives some insight into what these hats mean to others.

This latest hat is named Cluthar which is the Irish word for warmth.  I knit the models using 6-weight, super bulky yarn, but of course have included all yarn weights for your convenience.

Do NOT be intimidated by the pattern.  It truly is very simple.  Once you do the first repeat, you can easily see where to make the next loop.  Try it and I bet you'll really enjoy the pattern!

Introducing Gifts from the Heart!

 It's almost October already!  I'm not sure where 2024 is going, but it's going quickly!  I have been busy working on new patterns though.  My latests e-book, Gifts from the Heart contains 10 patterns, all named gift in various languages.  Chemo caps are needed everywhere and they are truly gifts from the heart!

Each pattern is great for knitting while watching football!  And you've got plenty of time to make all of these as holiday gifts for friends and family too.  Just please remember to donate some to your local cancer center or to DEHH!

I'm fairly certain that I will get pushback from people who demand all my patterns be free and immediate.  I'd just like to ask you all to think about the amount of time that goes into creating patterns and the amount of time and money that goes into running Delaware Head Huggers.  Sadly, most people who are demanding access to patterns are those who don't donate chemo caps.  If you use any of my patterns for your own purposes, please consider donating to DEHH.

Bronntanas has already been published on this blog.  The remaining nine patterns are all brand new.  All e-book sale profits go right back into running Delaware Head Huggers.  I've priced Gifts from the Heart at only $10 - which I think is very reasonable.  Each pattern will also be available individually for those of you who only want one.  They will be priced at $2.50 each. Introducing Kram! Week 9 of the 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns 2023

It's Week 9 of the 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns!  Kram is the Swedish word for hug.  

This model was knit using Knit Picks Brava Bulky, a 5-weight yarn.  Of course, the pattern includes instructions for all yarn weights so you can use what is in your stash. Simple slipped stitches add the colorful pop to this hat.  But, you could work this hat in any color combination you can think of.  Team colors, school colors, favorite colors - try them all!

Introducing Fusi! Week 8 of the 12 Weeks of Christmas 2023

It's Week 8 of the 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns!  Fusi is the Samoan word for hug.  

This model was knit using Lion Brand Hometown yarn, a 6-weight yarn, but any yarn weight will do and the pattern includes instructions for all yarn weights.  This is an easy pattern for beginners since it is just alternating knit and purl stitches.  Suitable for men or women, it will look great in any color.  Variegated yarn will also work up nicely.  You can switch colors after each pattern repeat for a different look too.  Have fun with it!

It's already Week 7 of the 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns!  Memeluk is the Indonesian word for hug.  

The model is knit using Lion Brand Hometown USA, a 6-weight, bulky yarn, but the pattern includes instructions for all yarn weights and this hat will work up nicely no matter what yarn weight you use.  Try it using a variegated yarn or a self striping yarn and see what a great looking hat you end up with.  This is a very simple pattern - easy to remember and fun to knit.  Make a few and donate them this winter.

This model is knit using Knit Picks Brava Bulky. It's a wonderfully textured hat that is fun to knit in any yarn weight.  The model below is knit using Lion Brand Hometown 6-weight yarn and as you can see, the texture is still clearly visible.  Try it out with whatever yarn you have on hand - the pattern has instructions for all weights.
