Schnapps loves the Noggin Nuzzler hat and the Body Nuzzler blanket square, so he decided to put that pattern to use and create the Neck Nuzzler Infinity Scarf! This scarf works up very quickly and used just one skein of Lion Brand's Wool-Ease Thick and Quick. He just knit until he had just enough for the bind off!
The Neck Nuzzler is knit in the round, eliminating the need for any seams. This can easily be made into a mobius infinity scarf too by just twisting your stitches before joining in the round.

The Neck Nuzzler
You will need 106 yards or more of 6-weight yarn and size US 15 circular needles (24 or 36 inches in length)
Cast on 128 stitches, place marker and join, taking care not to twist stitches.
Work Pattern:
Rows 1 & 2: *k2, p2*, repeat around
Rows 3 & 4: *p2, k2*, repeat around
Repeat Rows 1 - 4 until piece measures 4.5 to 5 inches in width. End with a Row 2 or a Row 4.
If you are using one skein of yarn, just be sure to leave enough to bind off your stitches.
Bind Off all stitches knitwise. Weave in your ends.

This pattern is in multiples of 4, so feel free to make it longer by casting on extra stitches in multiples of four.
The scarf is about 60 inches in length. Feel free to shorten it by casting on fewer stitches, again, decreasing in multiples of four.
To make it a mobius infinity scarf, twist your stitches before you join in the round.

SO cute but easy pattern. Is this the stitch called "mistake rib"? So to make it mobius simply twist one needle before joining? Please sign me up for the Headhuggers newsletter also. thanks!
ReplyDeleteNo, this is a box stitch - worked lengthwise. But, yes, just twist a needle before joining.

Explain twist your needle, I am new at knitting.
ReplyDeletePlease sign me up for the Headhuggers newsletter. Also I need the twist the needle explained. Thanks so much!!
ReplyDeleteTwisting stitches does not a mobius make! A mobius is a HALF twist. Sorry, I'm a math, as well as a knitting freak.
ReplyDeletewhy aren't your patterns printable ?
ReplyDeleteAnything online is printable.
Deletehow do you twist your needle? I have never heard of this before
ReplyDeleteIt says twist your stitches.....I can't explain that in any other way....I suggest that you look for a video on making a mobius scarf.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought...this pattern really should be worked over 4 stitches plus two. The current method results in 4 stitches of the same type in a row at the join. Depending on the yarn used this may be more or less noticeable. I suggest Row 1 being *K2, P2* ending with K2 and Row 2 being *P2, K2* ending with P2. This makes the pattern truly 'infinite'.
ReplyDeleteNo, when it is knit in the round, as written, it is worked over 4 stitches. There is no 4 stitch of the same type at the join......you join the first row after casting on and work k2, p2, which is 4 stitches.
DeleteYou are writing about a 2 row pattern, while this is a 4 row pattern. Rows 1 and 2 end with a P2 and rows 3 and 4 end with a K2 already........adding 2 stitches would make the pattern incorrect.
Centering your type makes it hard to read.
ReplyDeleteFree pattern as easy and beautiful as this one, no complaints.
DeleteReeeeeally??????
DeleteLovely and easy. thank you!
ReplyDeleteCan you give UK equivalents for wool weight and needle size please
ReplyDeleteThe needles would be 000 and the yarn would be 14 ply.
DeleteIs this pattern available in PDF form? I cannot find a way to print the pattern on this site. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI always just copy & paste, making my own document to print. That way I can rearrange photos and usually print on fewer pages, plus, it's saved. Hope it works for you! -S.Jarvis
DeleteI absolutely LOVE this scarf, and the color. Thanks again for the awesome free pattern.
DeleteIf you right click on any page on the internet, there are options that come up, one of the options is to print. You can use this on any page and print anything you want.
DeleteNew to knitting so please forgive the question... can this be knitted on normal needles.. or am I going to have to invest in the round?
ReplyDeleteIf you are referring to straight needles as "normal" needles, the answer is no, this project is knit in the round, even if you knit it flat and sewed the end seam, the cast on is 128 in super bulky yarn, the stitches simply would not fit on the needle and straight needles cannot be used to knit in the round.
DeleteSchnapps certainly has exquisite taste lol.
ReplyDeleteHow many stitches & what needle size for a 5-weight yarn?
